Title: C3 Voice Chat - Check it Out!
Post by: wyldmojo on May 22, 2012, 02:06:12 PM
What's up everyone!

I'm Wyldmojo and I work for C3 - the new kick ass voice chat for gamers.

I saw you guys are doing some recruiting and wanted to drop in and tell you a bit about C3. Some GW2 players are really getting some good use out of it - check out this reddit thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/ss9ml/wvw_c3_serverchannel_information_its_up/

Anywho...
C3 is better than Vent, TeamSpeak, Mumble, and to compare it to Raidcall or Skype is straight up insulting.

Why is C3 so good?

100% Free
You can have unlimited user's in a channel
You can have unlimited channels
and the voice quality is always crystal clear
Oh yea its totally free!

Check it out www.downloadc3.com (http://www.downloadc3.com/?utm_source=Guildsandclans&utm_medium=Forum&utm_campaign=harlequin) and let me know if you have any questions!

Proprietry application
Free app and hosting
No restrictions
Paid forum shills

Lol no.
Nice business model there bro, so what's the catch? Do you sell our data, spam advertisements to everyone, or will there there suddenly be license and hosting fees once enough people are on the bandwagon?

sales@vivox.com totally screams non-profit.

I'm not opposed to new apps (mumble was the new kid on the block not too long ago) but this just looks dodgy at this point.

Bandwidth costs alone will be ridiculous.

lol I know? That's why I said what I said, this person/these people are taking advantage of such threads so they can advertise their stuff.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the responses. A couple of clarifications:

C3 will always be free to the end user. We are absolutely for profit as our voice software is integrated into a long list of games as an in-game VoIP option. We decided that we wanted to take our voice technology and apply it to a standalone app that would allow more options for users. C3 is hosted on the same Vivox (http://www.vivox.com/customers/customer-list.htmll) back end that hosts the voice chat for SoE's MMO games (EQ/EQ2, DC Universe Online, etc.) and games such as World of Tanks and Second Life. The back end's up time has been, and continues to be, a steady 99.999%. So there you go, that's the same place C3's up time is coming from.

I understand you might already being using Mumble and that's fine, but give C3 a try even if it's just with causal friends or in a random pick up group. It's a great application with a ton of benefits - no catch, no selling of data or information, just just good old clean voice chat.

Let me know if you have any questions I can help answer or if you have any feedback on the product!

We should probably have forum rules against ads if we don't already. :P

I think we do, Ukrai usually nukes em. This guy wasn't a spambot, is polite, and people have been replying so I think he just left the thread for discussion.

wouldn't surprise me if this company gave out your details to spammers to pay for their awesome free service
but after a quick Google, Voice Quality Lower than Mumble, laggier than vent, high bandwidth use to due integration with failbook etc, oh and it hogs resources..

Mumble still wins,

PS i also like how they let you make "free" long distance phone calls and SMS's etc wonder how thats being paid for

lol ive used the vivox services before

dunno if it was just eve online, but it was shockingly terrabad

almost impossible to understand and had near a second delay when used at the same time as mumble

oh and Kon the free calls are to facebook friends only... of which facebook already has a native ability to do so

Glad to see you all are trying it out.

I just want to be clear, we absolutely will not be giving out your information. Vivox has been working with gaming companies for over 5 years and that is where our revenue is generated. C3 is our stand alone solution that works off the same technology.

In terms of free calling you can dial anyone in US Canada and PR for free and also call & text your Facebook friends for free.

We also give you the ability to add a phone number to your channel so friends and members can call in from the road.

Sorry to hear you have had poor experiences previously, but in terms of quality in a vacuum, we have tested and Vivox has the highest KHz out of all the solutions out there. If there are specific issues or times you have had trouble, please pass them on to me and I can send them over to our support team.

Keep trying it out and let me know what's working for you and what's not, we are always trying to make improvements.

Improvements: ... Don't bullshit, oh you have the highest kHz solution out there

Because that makes the difference, did you consider the compression could be terrible and ends up chopping out everything you actually want..

Oh and as for problems, sure it was when we had the POS in wormhole... So round about August last year, we were using eve voice as backup while scheduled maintenance happened on our mumble server for about half an hour

Around 2 in the morning gmt10, we had three people in a eve voice channel and every high and low in pasitos voice was extremely exaggerated and resulted in a very annoying noise that resembled human speech, whereas leezor sounded like he was talking through a mouthfull of sand

Both had near a second delays and this continued once we had mumble back, which was working fantastically despite eve voice giving us so many troubles
