- a character in comedy and pantomime with a shaved head, masked face, variegated tights, and wooden sword.
- from the term Hellequin (a black-faced emissary of the devil, is said to have roamed the countryside with a group of demons chasing the damned souls of evil people to Hell).
- a clan of mischievous masked-faced combatants fighting to protect their own and wreak havoc and revenge upon the evil wrong-doers of the world.

Harlequin is a majority Australian and New Zealand Clan seeking members from any location wishing to play in a similar time zone (GMT +10ish) :
Whilst we encourage our member’s characters to display the mask-faced semblance of the Harlequin as a badge of membership, our foremost objective is to foster a close knit community of like-minded players seeking to amuse themselves and others as we fight and adventure together.
